A New York law firm is awarding a scholarship to one lucky student who creates the best and most engaging public service announcement relating to stopping teen vaping and the use of the JUUL. Gacovino, Lake & Associates have been advocates for the fight against teen JUUL use since the start. Now they want students to join the fight to stop teen vaping award them a scholarship for doing their part. Gacovino Lake is awarding one student $2,500 who creates the most creative and convincing PSA on why teens, children, and peers should quit vaping or not begin in the first place. The written piece should be no more than 1000 words and should include:
- Warnings and risks of vaping and the use of the Juul
- Convincing content on why one should quit vaping
- Targeted towards your peers and youth
Since the start of JUUL, there have been massive spikes in youth vaping. According to a study, 27.5% of high school students and 10.5% of eighth-graders say they currently use e-cigarettes, with more than half of both groups using Juul as their e-cigarette of choice. There have also been numerous lawsuits against JUUL for the company allegedly targeting children and teens in their ads and social media marketing. JUUL is known for its sleek minuscule designs and sweet trendy flavors. Because of this, they have grown very popular in the teen community and are easily concealed from parents and other authorities. Because of this, children and young adults are cultivating a nicotine addiction before their bodies and brains are fully developed.
